My first love is painting, I love the physicality of paint. I love painting large and allowing random mark making to happen, responding as I go. I find myself in these brush marks and drips. Color feeds my soul and painting makes me happy.

Color & Light

When I’m in my studio creating and see light coming in through my window, it hits me in a moment I can not describe… beauty, awe, some kind of transcendence.

During my residency at the Vermont Studio Center, I started to video this light and that’s how I started using light as a medium in my pieces.

I am captivated by the slow flicker and movement of light shapes. After altering the color, speed, and composition of the video, I project and layer it with different shapes of dyed and painted canvas, becoming a light collage.
I find these Illuminated layers of light and color to have a very calming effect and use them in meditation.
